Tire Shoes!
Market Time

Habari Asubuhi!
Today was a long day… We had three 2 hours classes, and we were assigned a major project worth 30% of our final grade. It is basically analyzing the data we collected on the field yesterday about the elephant and human damage on shrubs and trees.
After our classes we got to go to the market again!! I got 2 pairs of tire shoes, a shuka, and a pretty sheer scarf. In total I spent under $20. The tire shoes are so sweet! I can’t wait to rock them in the states! Also, this adorable boy came up to me and asked me to take his picture. His name was Patrick and he was very nice. At the market all the kids liked to play with my hair. They kept running around and bouncing it up and down. I guess long blond hair here is a big deal?
When we got back from the market I went for a walk with a couple of the students here. We were lucky to see the sunset behind the Acacia trees, it was breathtaking. Then we played some banana grams while waiting for dinner. Right before dinner we had our first black mamba sighting. Everyone is super freaked out! Hopefully it will stay away from my banda. =]
After dinner we played raptor; it was hilarious! Basically you have to put your arms in the arm-holes of your shirts so just your hands hang out. The object is to get a piece of tape off the opponents shoulder while jumping around like a raptor. It was pretty great.
I also got to talking to Moses, one of the staff who just came back from their break. We were talking about his wife and his family. So, one of the new laws that has been passed in Kenya is the ability to practice polygamy. Many of the Maasai have multiple wives, and they say it is hard not to. But Moses told me today that he loves his wife so much and that he is a one woman man. It was so cute. They have been married for 10 years, and he has two sons that are 9 and 6. It was so sweet to hear him talk about her, because you can tell he truly loved her.
Anyways, tomorrow we are doing another field lecture. We are going to interview people – not sure what about yet, but it sounds interesting. I am excited.
Sorry once again that my blogs are lame. I hope something cool happens soon! Also, PLEASE ask me questions or comment on this blog. I feel so lame writing to myself - once again.
